We are excited to announce the introduction of a comprehensive AI Policy and Governance Committee to serve Premier Health. This pioneering initiative is designed to guide and enhance the use of artificial intelligence in clinical and non-clinical settings. This will ensure the ethical, safe, and effective integration of AI technologies into our work. As most of us are aware, AI is emerging as a major transformative technology for how we do our work, and Premier Health is committed to appropriately harnessing this potential.

Key components of the new policy include data model transparency, clear data definitions, and assurances around ethical use and patient transparency. Models will be reviewed for algorithm accuracy, awareness and avoidance of hallucinations, privacy, safety, potential need for human intervention, and continuous improvement.

This approved policy with the governance structure began the rollout in May, with the first Governance Committee meeting on May 29.  Due to the fast pace of technological advancements and regulatory changes, continual evolution is expected over the next two to three years. This structure should help Premier Health determine the safe utilization of the technology and minimize any associated risks. Our goal is to harness the potential of AI to improve health care outcomes while maintaining the trust and confidence of our patients and health care professionals.
